Residence M.
The client’s commitment made it possible to build a consistently designed adobe house: the foundations and basement walls are made of concrete, while the exterior walls of the first floor are made of rammed earth – 63 cm thick, produced with the excavated material from the building site and mixed with brick chippings. All interior and exterior surfaces of these walls were left unplastered.
The upper floor is built on top of the walls, which are strongly structured in plan and pierced with large openings, using a timber frame construction. This is filled with light clay and plastered with clay. Clay from the property was also used as filling material for the suspended ceiling and for various finishing details.
