Allenmoos II school pavilion

The existing Allenmoos school pavilion was redesigned and renovated by Boltshauser Architekten on behalf of the City of Zurich. Lehm Ton Erde Baukunst GmbH was responsible for the execution of the earth building elements. The structural intervention unobtrusively and precisely combines traditional craftsmanship with the requirements of a contemporary school. The use of rammed earth has created a space for education that is both full of character and robust – a place that radiates warmth and demonstrates durability in daily use.

In the interior, the rammed earth elements were complemented by carefully designed surfaces made of clay casein and fired, individually designed tiles. The result is a finely coordinated interplay of material, color and texture – atmospherically dense and functional at the same time.
