The residential home in timber construction is located in the heart of the village and thus visibly strengthens inclusion – not only through its central location, but also through the design of the outdoor space. It offers three equally organized residential units for adults with disabilities as well as communal and publicly usable areas on the first floor.
A central concern of the project was consistent sustainability: Swiss wood from regional production, reduced concrete content, short transport routes and a photovoltaic system with storage battery characterize the energy concept. The connection to the Sedrun anergy grid supplements the renewable energy supply.
670m2 of rammed earth flooring in combination with clay plaster ensure a balanced indoor climate, as clay absorbs and releases moisture. This creates a natural regulation of humidity, which promotes the well-being of the residents. At the same time, the rammed earth floor underlines the ecological approach of the project: it is made of natural materials, has low grey energy and brings a warm, earthy atmosphere to the building thanks to its tactile and visual quality.
