In the Letzi
On the edge of Küsnacht, the park of an old country house was supplemented by nine multi-storey residential buildings. Outside, clay walls border the park and form the entrance to the ensemble through an opening. From here, a wide driveway leads to the underground parking garages, whose exits are also flanked by rammed earth walls.
The walls are intended to give the impression that the driveway has been cut out of the ground and now reveals the cut surface of the earth. The walls adapt to the topography, but the structure of the rammed earth remains horizontal. This emphasizes the character of the layers of earth once again. The rammed earth with its lively structure serves as a common link between the buildings, from which access to the individual buildings is provided. In order to minimize construction time, the project was realized in prefabricated parts.
